Eat Healthy

Eating a range of foods that include vegetables and fruit, whole grains and protein will help you prevent problems caused by diabetes.

This will help you eat.

  • the right amount of carbohydrates
  • the right amount of fats
  • more fibre
  • less sodium

You can help to prevent problems caused by diabetes with healthy eating. Healthy eating can help you:

  • lower your blood sugar
  • lower your LDL (bad) cholesterol
  • lower your blood pressure

Eating a range of foods from the 4 food groups will help you to manage your blood sugar, LDL (bad) cholesterol and blood pressure.

The 3 food groupings are:

  1. vegetables and fruits
  2. whole grains
  3. protein

Eating a range of foods from the 3 food groupings will also make you feel better and be more likely to do things in your daily routine, like exercise.
